Riverland Community College fell to Miles Community College 8–1 as the Pioneers used early offense and timely power hitting to secure the win.
Miles jumped out to a quick start, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding another in the third to build an early advantage. They extended the lead in the middle innings, highlighted by a pair of two-run frames in the fifth and sixth.
Riverland got on the board in the bottom of the first inning and finished the game with five hits. Sophomore outfielder Dylan Carlson (Edgeley, ND) drove in the Blue Devils' lone run, while sophomore infielder Raul Martinez (Santa Isabel, PR) , Sophomore infiedler Travis Kirtz (Adams, MN), freshman utility Austin Swenson (Adams, MN), and freshman infielder Christiaan Koehler (Red Wing, MN) each recorded a hit.
On the mound, Blake Hershberger took the loss, working 5.1 innings.Freshman pitcher Ethan Doll (Fargo, ND) provided relief out of the bullpen, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings to close out the game.
