Riverland Falls To Century

The Riverland Community College baseball team was held scoreless on Monday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Century College in MCAC Southern Division play.

Century jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the second inning on a solo home run and an RBI single. The visitors added two more runs in the third inning on a two-run homer to take a 4-0 advantage.

Riverland had opportunities offensively, recording five hits and drawing six walks, but was unable to deliver the timely hit, leaving 10 runners on base in the contest.

Sophomore 2B Peyton Ransom (Austin, MN) led the Blue Devils at the plate with two hits, while sophomore 3B Raul Martinez (Santa Isabel, PR), freshman utility Austin Swenson (Adams, MN), and freshman catcher Ethan Mott (Rockford, IL) each added one. Swenson also recorded Riverland's lone extra-base hit with a double.

On the mound, freshman Riley Jax (Adams, MN) turned in a complete game effort, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking one.
