Riverland Earns Split With Nationally Ranked Century

The Riverland Community College baseball team showed resilience on Tuesday afternoon, rallying for a 6-5 victory over Century College to earn a split of the road doubleheader.

After falling behind early, the Blue Devils chipped away before taking control in the fifth inning. Freshman utility Austin Swenson (Adams, MN) delivered the decisive blow with a three-run home run, giving Riverland a lead they would not relinquish.

Swenson paced the offense with two hits and three RBIs, while freshman catcher Ethan Mott (Rockford, IL) added a pair of hits and an RBI. Freshman SS Christiaan Koehler (Red Wing, MN) also contributed with an RBI, and the Blue Devils capitalized on timely situational hitting with multiple sacrifice plays to generate runs.

Riverland overcame defensive miscues, committing five errors in the contest, but found a way to secure the win behind a strong effort on the mound.

Sophomore RHP Peyton Ransom (Austin, MN) earned the victory, tossing a complete game while allowing five runs—none earned—on just four hits. He struck out four and worked around two walks.
