Riverland Wins Season Opener, 93–61 Over Vermilion

The Riverland Community College men's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season in dominant fashion with a 93–61 victory over Minnesota North College–Vermilion on Saturday night in Austin.

Riverland jumped out to a 43–26 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and unselfish play, then continued to pull away in the second half with balanced scoring and strong team defense.

Five Blue Devils scored in double figures, led by sophomore forward Nick Edland's (Rose Creek, MN) pouring in a game-high 18 points, which included four made three-pointers. Sophomore forward Tristan Coleman (Maywood, IL) was a stat-sheet stuffer with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Freshmnan forward Jahnial Jones (New Hope, MN) chipped in 12 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting. Freshman guard Isaiah Lindor (Miami, FL) added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore forward Joe Poyser (Wildwood, FL) anchored the paint with 8 points, snatched a game-high 12 rebounds (6 offensive), and 4 assists.

Riverland dominated the glass, outrebounding Vermilion 48–26, and assisted on 23 of their 39 made field goals. The Blue Devils shot 51.3% from the field and 35.3% from three, converting all their free throws (3-for-3) in a complete team performance.

#7 Devils improve to 1-0 on the young season and will look to carry the momentum into Sunday night's game.
