The Riverland Community College women's basketball team fell 89-51 to Minnesota North College–Itasca on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Blue Devils trailed 20-16 after a competitive first quarter, but Itasca used a strong second quarter to build momentum and carried a 45-30 lead into halftime. A decisive 29-9 third quarter pushed the game out of reach.
Riverland was led by Sydney Shelby (Homer, AK) and Morgan Klankowski (Austin, MN), who each scored 12 points while combining for 14 rebounds. Najima Hassan (Mankato, MN) added 9 points, including three three-pointers, and Kiah Parkin (Crookston, MN) finished with 8 points. The Blue Devils totaled 37 rebounds and 15 assists as a team.
Riverland will look to bounce back next Friday night on the road at Mesabi Range.
