Riverland Falls On The Road To Minnesota West

Riverland Community College fell on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a 128–26 decision to Minnesota West Community College. 

Minnesota West set the tone early, jumping out to a 32–11 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin with a dominant second period that held Riverland to just two points. The home team continued its efficient offensive performance throughout the second half, finishing the game shooting 66.2 percent from the field and 55 percent from three-point range.

Sophomore guard Alexis Jones (Albert Lea, MN) led Riverland with 10 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and going 4-for-5 at the free-throw line. Freshman guard Lexi Lewis (Austin, MN) and freshman forward Keeli Johnson (Houston, AK) each added six points. Freshman forward Kyana Hutchinson (Seward, AK) contributed two points in the loss.

Riverland will look to regroup Wednesday as they take on Anoka Ramsey on the road.
