Riverland Community College picked up a crucial 67-63 home victory on Saturday afternoon over St. Cloud.
The game was tied 28-28 at halftime in a very physical defensive first half that saw both teams struggle to find rhythm offensively.
Riverland came out in the second half, outscoring St. Cloud 39-35 over the final 20 minutes.
Sophomore forward Tristan Coleman (Maywood, IL) notched another double-double pouring in a team high 22 points (9-13 FG) & snatched 11 rebounds (6 Offensive). Freshman guard Isaiah Lindor (Miami, FL) 11 points, snatched 4 rebounds & dished out 3 assists. Sophomore guard Tyson Helms (Tucson, AZ) 8 points, dished out 5 assists & collected 3 steals. Sophomore forward Joe Poyser (Wildwood, FL) 7 points, 11 rebounds & collected 3 steals. Sophomore guard Romelle Bell (Chicago, IL) 6 points & 7 rebounds. Freshman guard De'Vaun Suggs -Dabney (St. Paul, MN) 6 points & 5 rebounds. Sophomore guard Lubab Kambalo (Sioux Falls, SD) 5 points & made the two free throws to seal the deal with 6.7 seconds left!
In a game where both teams shot under 40 percent from the field, rebounding proved to be the difference. Riverland controlled the boards 47-32, including 15 offensive rebounds that created extra possessions in a tightly contested battle.
The Devils also took advantage at the free throw line, converting 13-of-17 attempts.
