Frank Spaeth is the head coach for the Riverland Community College men’s soccer program.
Spaeth's first season with the program was in 2019. The Blue Devils posted a 10-4 overall record and a 4-1 conference record (both program bests) and reached the NJCAA Region XIII championship game for just the second time in program history, losing 3-2 in double OT. The team had six players named all-conference and three players named all-region. Several players also received academic honors from both the college and the conference. For his coaching efforts, Spaeth was selected as the Minnesota College Athletic Conference men's soccer co-coach of the year.
Spaeth has coached soccer in various capacities at the club, high school and collegiate level for the past 12 years. At club level, Spaeth has worked with both boys and girls from ages 9-18 for Rochester Youth Soccer Association (now Minnesota Rush). His experiences include coaching competitive teams and working on camps and winter training programs.
Spaeth has also coached at several Minnesota high schools, including the girls’ program at Northfield High School on two separate occasions, and the boys’ programs at Rochester John Marshall High School and Stewartville High School. During that time, the teams he worked with made it to two section finals.
Collegiately, Spaeth served as a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s team at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona for three seasons. He was also the interim assistant coach for the women’s soccer program at Winona State University in 2017, helping lead the team to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference playoffs.
In addition to his coaching duties, he's also the general manager for Med City FC, a minor league soccer team based in Rochester, Minnesota, that plays in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). He serves in many administrative roles for the club including marketing, social media, business development and day-to-day operations.
Spaeth graduated from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he played intercollegiate soccer at the NAIA level, serving as a team captain for two seasons and earning all-conference and all-district honors after a senior season that saw him score 17 goals and add nine assists for his team.
Spaeth has received coaching licenses from both the United States Soccer Federation and United Soccer Coaches. He lives in Rochester with his wife and two children.
